Hout Bay Boat Yard was established in 1987 primarily as a parking facility for trailer drawn boats. The Boatyard specifically caters for boat owners who want to enjoy the use of their boats, whether its is for fishing, recreation or Cray fishing without being burdened with the hassles such as towing on public roads, launching, retrieving, cleaning, washing and refueling. Boats can be stored on a permanent or casual basis.
Boat owners can therefore board their vessel in the Boatyard, be launched at the nearby slipway, enjoy their outing and return whenever they wish. The Boatyard will do the rest, including refueling and cleaning. Other services such as maintenance and repairs including carpentry, fiber glass work, trailer repairs, boat covers, electronics etc. are also undertaken.
We also supply petrol, diesel, outboard oil, and crayfish tackle in bulk to commercial fishing vessels.In 2006 the Hout Bay Boat Yard purchased a marine travelift crane in order to lift yachts and keel boats into the premise for repairs and maintenance. The crane has a capacity of 40 tons and can handle boats up to 18 meters.
Adjacent to the Boatyard premises we have a 10 berth marina for water based boats. The marina also provides for the refueling of petrol driven boats.

Launch and retrieve – we operate 7 days a week
Fuelling of boats – 2 petrol pumps (95 unleaded) situated on the Marina for water based boats and one situated within the premises for trailer drawn boats.
Shop – We supply bait, outboard oil and crayfish tackle (in season) at the shop on our premises.
Cleaning – Boats are cleaned after use during the week and thereafter on a regular basis.
The Boatyard is equipped with Travelift Crane operative within the premises of the Hout Bay Boat Yard. The crane can lift yachts, motor boats, commercial fishing vessels and other pleasure crafts of up to 40 ton. The following dimensions and sizes can be handled:
